Luck be a Lady

Do you notice the luck that comes in your life? Grateful for the things you take for granted daily, like food on your plate, a place to sleep, and a place to call home? Hopefully yes. Because just like a lady if you don't pay attention to the luck in your life that makes you more fortunate than most people in this world it too will leave you. It is fickle and only comes to those that give it love and tender care. It can come in a chance happening like running into a friend who leads you to a new job or a phone call making you late to work but also missing that big accident on the way. Observe, be watchful, because just like a true lady, the more you uncover and notice the more open she will be to you.

Look at what you have and be thankful. Don't regret what is missing because it will only continue to elude you. I've said it before..what you focus on will only expand. So be happy in this moment, hopefully the new year will only bring you more blessings.

PS

Had to leave another post...after posting my last entry today, it felt AMAZING! Writing gets me all happy and it led me onto researching on other topics. I had family over today and my kids were less needy so I had a good amount of time to read online. Next thing you know I am lying in bed giggling to myself reading an article that is hilarious!!! Made my partner happy just seeing me having so much fun reading about food....another great love of mine...ummm.......nutella on crepes...yum yum..ok now that is indulgence, my two favorite passions, food and reading ;-)

How do you Indulge?

Indulgence: The act or practice of indulging; gratification of desire....according to Dictionary.com

For some, indulgence means sinking their teeth into a piece of dark chocolate. For others, it's spending an afternoon in bed with a good novel. Whatever indulgence is for you, how often do you get to get to fulfill it?

I know for me if I don't make the time or put in the effort, I can go for days or even weeks at a time before I get to have some kind of indulgence. Now that I am a mother of two, my needs have definitely have been put on the back burner which I am happy to do but after awhile, I start to lose that luster for life. Even though I have a wonderful partner who always makes sure to let me get in time to do what I love to do, it's still easy to forget my own needs when my three year old is crying for attention because we just brought home a newborn. Nevertheless, yesterday I finally got to take a hot bath for the first time in months!

That wonderful feeling of sinking into hot water filled with all the feminine scents that made me feel girlie was definitely an act indulging, which according to Dictionary.com, indulging is to allow oneself to follow one's will. It felt great and selfish all at once. It was my own slice of heaven. We get so busy in our everyday lives trying to please others whether it's our bosses, customer or lover, we are constantly in the go and do mode. The bath reminded me of what it feels like to do something entirely for my own soul. It recharged my batteries and nurtured my inner goddess. Just like biting into a delicious piece of chocolate cheesecake. Is it just me, but I know when I do so, time seems to stop and all that I'm aware of is the taste surrounding my senses.

My concept of indulgence is something you do that makes you forget the outer world and all of your senses are open to just that moment. You are only aware of what's in front of you and it's truly something you just LOVE.....
What pleases you? For one of my girlfriends, it's at the end of a work day and all of her kids are in bed and she gets to have a glass of wine and do her nails. Whatever is your indulgence, make sure to carve out the time and you come away from it feeling good and joyous. If what you do doesn't leave you feeling charged and good, then find something else that PLEASES you. That's part of discovering who you truly are. It will eventually lead you to your inner passion. Who knows it could be something that surprises you. Ask yourself, what is your desire, then come up with ways to actually fulfill it. The world will appreciate a happier you. :)

Toxins

We are surrounded by toxins. Sure we are aware of air pollution but are we aware of the toxins in our own personal lives? Most likely, no. Fortunately our very intelligent bodies always lets us know when we've had an accumulation of too many toxins that come into contact with us. It can manifest in fatigue and illness. How we feel and approach life comes directly from what is going on inside. Toxins can come towards us through friendships, food, and even our own thinking. I consider anything negative that I come across as toxic.

For example, it can come from a friendship where you have a one sided relationship with someone who always seems to leave you with little energy. The only times they reach out to you is when there is something for them to vent or complain about and once they are done, they are quick to make an exit. You are left feeling drained and somewhat restless yourself. Your energy is scattered. Does this friendship leave you feeling good about yourself? Don't get me wrong, part of being a friend is being a sympathetic listener but when this is only one sided and it's not a two way street, it can lead to resentment and negative feelings. That's where the toxic friendship comes in.

Food can become toxic when after consumption, you don't feel full of zest, you feel sluggish and sleepy. Food is fuel for the body. And what we put in our bodies eventually comes out in how we look and feel. Anyone who knows me knows I love my sweets and have been known to indulge in pretty sinful food. But I balance that out by eating pretty well the majority of the time. People think it's my metabolism, but come on, I'm 30 years old and now a mother of two. I can safely say my metabolism slowed down 5 years ago. It took somewhat a health scare to make me realize that everything I was eating was directly related to how I felt. That changed my approach to food. My friends can now find me mostly cooking at home. I want to eat delicious food without sacrificing quality. And because of the way I grew up, my meals mainly consists of Asian ingredients. They are simple and delicious. :) It's easy to fall off the wagon when you are going through the drive thru a few times a week. When you get a build up of toxic food in your system, it slows you down. You are not able to perform at your highest peak. You are not at your best You.

Lastly onto toxic thoughts. When you look into the mirror, are you recognizing the highest love for yourself? Or do you simply just brush your teeth and swipe on some makeup? A simple exercise to do the next time in front of the mirror is to stop and look deeply into your own eyes. You are looking at your inner soul and feeling the love there. Just pause, stare, and feel. No one else is going to do this for you if you can't even do it yourself. We are too easy to judge our own selves based upon the perceptions of others. We may not recognize this and tell ourselves what others say doesn't matter but until we are truly grounded within ourselves our barriers will never be strong enough to hold off on the flood of words that bombard us every day in our daily lives.

I hope this posts will remind everyone to be more aware of our everyday inner and outer world and live a more conscious life.
Always Love and Laughter ~
